Have you noticed how the news is almost always bad? What with the after-effects of this pandemic, the cost of living and the war in Ukraine, we seem to be living in a permacrisis. Sometimes it can feel as if our mindset is starting to mirror this negativity. All too often, life can feel like a joyless walk through syrup – not the sweet and comforting sort but the bitter, sticky stuff. It’s often due to a build-up of psychological and emotional tiny ‘t’ traumas. Rather than the Big ‘T’ traumas in life, such as abuse, these can be things that wear you down bit by bit – stress at work or keeping the wheels on the family bandwagon. Add to that microaggressions, the pressure to be happy all the time and feeling powerless to change things, and life can feel more about surviving than thriving.
