Josh Rees’ first-half goal was eventually cancelled out by a second-half flurry as strikes from Ryan Colclough, Will Grigg and Ollie Banks kept the Spireites level on points with leaders Barnet.

Chesterfield assistant manager Danny Webb believes the fans played a big part in the comeback.

He said: “Once again, the resilience was great to come back from [1-0 down]. The supporters are always excellent but today they were another level.

“I think quality won us the game. They had ten men, which helped massively, but 3-1 shows we deserved to win today.”

The early exchanges saw the home side control possession and keep Dagenham penned entirely in their half.
