Labour in 'complete chaos over sacking' says Ed Balls

SENIOR ministers yesterday struggled to control the fallout from Sue Gray's departure, with former shadow chancellor Ed Balls describing the crisis as "complete chaos".

Defence Secretary John Healey was given the tough job of spinning the Government's predicament, laughably claiming that Sir Keir Starmer is presiding over "the most unified cabinet that I've ever served in".

Mr Healey defended Sue Gray as a "great talent", commending her as a "natural team player [who] raises the standards of those around her". He insisted that Ms Gray was only stepping down as Chief of Staff due to fears she was becoming a "distraction to the Government's vital work".
