CARLOS ALCARAZ claimed Jack Draper is a Wimbledon "contender" after the British No.1 stunned the defending champion at Queen's Club.
And the day after Andy Murray limped out of the cinch Championships, the dashing 22-year-old showed he is the bright young future of British tennis with the biggest win of his career.
French Open champion Alcaraz had been on an eightmatch winning streak - and was 13-0 on grass since the start of last year after claiming the titles here and at Wimbledon.
But, deploying his big lefthanded serve, the aggressive Draper simply blew away the world No.2 7-6(3) 6-3 on a glorious day in west London.
Draper won his first ATP Tour title in Stuttgart on Sunday and has now won seven consecutive matches on grass, with Wimbledon starting on July 1.
