DAVID KELTJENS made himself an instant Saint but Kelle Roos was the Aberdeen sinner as St Johnstone came back to salvage a point.
The Israeli defender made it a debut to remember as his header cancelled out Bojan Miovski's penalty the Pittodrie hitman's 17th goal of the season.
But Keltjens' effort will give the Dons No.1 nightmares as he came out for the cross, missed it and gifted Saints their leveller.
It was a costly mistake as it saw the Dons drop two points.
Third-placed Hearts are now 16 points ahead of them, although Barry Robson's men do have three games in hand.
Their hopes of reclaiming third spot are slipping away and look increasingly unlikely - unless they can go on a run as they did under Robson last season.
The margin for error is decreasing with every passing week. If Aberdeen had won, they would've gone into the top six.
It was a much better point for St Johnstone, although they could have claimed all three. They might also feel it was a night where VAR went against them.
The result saw them draw level with Motherwell and showed a reaction for Craig Levein and their fans after their embarrassing cup exit. The Perth side came in wounded after their Scottish Cup defeat at Airdrie and Levein made five changes from the side who had started at the weekend.
Robson's choices were more straightforward. His team had easily seen off Clyde and won their last two matches so it was the same starting XI.
This was a fixture that had to be rescheduled after Aberdeen's Viaplay Cup final involvement.
