SALMOND FUNERAL TO BE 'NEXT WEEK'

St Andrew's Day and Hogmanay among possible dates for public memorial

ALEX Salmond's private burial will not take place for at least another week, it has been revealed.

A funeral service for the former first minister will take place somewhere in the northeast of Scotland.

There will also be a larger public memorial service for the former SNP leader later in the year, possibly on St Andrew's Day.

Salmond died of a heart attack while attending a conference in North Macedonia, near Albania and Greece, last weekend.

His body was flown back to Scotland in a private plane on Friday.
