Old Firm ace gets 6 years for killing teen in hit and run

A FORMER Old Firm youth player who killed a teenager in a drunken hit-and-run was yesterday jailed for six years.

Ciaran Dickson, 22, struck Aidan Pilkington, 18, in Glasgow's Anniesland on September 11, 2021.

The ex-Celtic B team player got behind the wheel after drinking beer and cocktails.

He later raced down a road where Aidan was crossing and dragged him along the ground.

Aidan, who was set to start his first year at university, suffered significant head injuries which he died from later in hospital.

Dickson also a former Rangers youth star - fled and abandoned his rented Mercedes car near his home.

He pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to causing death by dangerous driving.

Judge Lord Colbeck said at yesterday's hearing the sentencing range for the offence was seven to 12 years. He stated he would have sentenced Dickson to eight years but for his plea of guilty.

The judge added: "Nothing I can say or do can compensate for his death.
