DISPOSABLE vapes are set to be banned this year in a massive win for the Record's campaign to outlaw the polluting, addictive gadgets.

The ban will be UK-wide after cooperation between the Scottish, UK and Welsh governments, we understand.

It's a victory for our "Bin The Vapes" campaign, launched a year ago to highlight the awful environmental toll from singleuse e-cigs as well as the worrying trend of youth vaping.

One eco activist said: "This will be a huge step forward and it will be a testament to the hard work of campaigners across Scotland - and the Daily Record's own campaign." We've been calling since last January for a crackdown on the single-use vapes menace which has seen our streets, beaches and green spaces turned into plastic dumping grounds.

Concerns have also been raised about the widespread use of the disposable devices by young people.

Now the Record has learned plans for a UK-wide ban are set to be announced within days, meaning the SNPGreen government will no longer consult on its own proposals.
