SNP MPS walk out as Gaza plea is snubbed

SNP MPs stormed out of the House of Commons last night in protest after the party's motion demanding an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza was ditched amid chaotic scenes.

Labour leader Keir Starmer had faced the threat of frontbenchers resigning so they could back the Nationalist motion which also highlighted the "collective punishment" of Palestinians.

But he avoided a revolt after Speaker Sir Linsday Hoyle broke convention to allow a Labour amendment to be voted on that called for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" that must be observed by "all sides".

It was ultimately passed without a vote and SNP MPs walked out after the Government announced it would boycott proceedings.

SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn was visibly angry as the Commons descended into farce.
