SCOTLAND'S "vape crusader" Laura Young has hailed a ban on single-use devices after Holyrood and Westminster made a joint agreement.
We revealed yesterday how there on polluting disposable vapes across the UK - potentially as early as this year.
Inspiring activist Laura, 27, who has been raising the alarm on the litter scourge of vapes since 2022, said the campaign to outlaw the devices "began in Scotland".
She was joined by campaigning Green MSP Gillian Mackay and health and eco charities in rejoicing over the move - expected to be confirmed by ministers on Monday.
It's also a huge victory for the Daily Record's Bin the Vapes campaign, launched a year ago to demand single-use plastic devices be outlawed.
Discarded e-cigs have turned our streets, parks and beaches into a dumping ground - while illegal underage vaping rates have gone through the roof.
Laura told the Record: "The Scottish and UK governments have chosen to look after our young people, and planet, by making this important decision to ban disposable vapes.
"This will help to alleviate the problem with youth vaping and will minimise the massive amounts of waste created by these products.
"It is even more encouraging to know this is a united approach across the UK, meaning the change will be seen right here in Scotland where the campaign began."
Announcements are expected on both sides of the Border on Monday with the disposables ban part of a wider drive in England to curb kids vaping and smoking following a UK Government consultation.
