ALISSON admits Liverpool never expected to be in such a strong position as they approach the halfway point of the season but insists they can still improve.

Arne Slot's Reds are six points clear at the top of the Premier League, with a game in hand on their chasing rivals which no-one tipped them for when Jurgen Klopp left in the summer.

Keeper Alisson is thrilled they have won 22 of their 26 games in all competitions, losing just once, and insists they must keep striving.

Liverpool face West Ham today at the London Stadium and the Brazilian says they have to believe they can still get better.

"I think if at the beginning of the season, we'd looked to this point now and were told the numbers, the amount of points we'd have, the place we'd be, we would sign off on it immediately," he said.

"We're happy about our position, but the best side of it is we can still improve in some aspects.

"That means we can become a better team, be more solid, more consistent.
