Congress, BJP Candidates Submit Nominations for Local Body Polls

The stage is set for the 100 urban local body elections in the state, with all candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress filing their nominations on Monday, the final day of submitting the papers.

DEHRADUN:

The dates for scrutinising the nomination papers are December 31 and January 1, and the date for withdrawal of nomination papers has been fixed as January 2. Election symbol allotment will be made on January 3. Counting of votes will be done on January 25.

The voting for 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipal councils and 46 nagar panchayats will take place on January 23, and counting will be held on January 25, as per a notification issued by the Uttarakhand government on December 23, when the model code of conduct also came into force.

On Monday, the BJP accused the Opposition Congress of selling tickets to its candidates.
