CLARE TAKES A SHINE TO OZ...

FOR former footballer-turned-commentator Clare Shine, this summer's World Cup is just the start of her incredible Australian adventure.

Clare, who is out in Sydney as part of RTE's broadcast team, has secured a working visa and is opening a new chapter in her life.

The author of a powerful autobiography, Scoring Goals in the Dark, the 28-year-old retired from football last year after a distinguished but troubled career.

In her book, she bravely writes about her struggles with addiction and mental health issues throughout her time in football.

Clare retired just two weeks before Ireland secured World Cup qualification with a 1-0 win over Scotland in Hampden Park.

The Glasgow game took place in the same city where she spent much of her senior career.
