IN THE lead-up to the United Nations’ International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21 at the Durban Amphitheatre, the Sivananda World Peace Foundation, in partnership with the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority, recently hosted a landmark event promoting global peace, holistic wellness, and environmental conservation through yoga.
Held within the renowned World Heritage Site, the gathering underscored the Foundation’s commitment to environmental stewardship by encouraging a deeper connection between people and nature.
Event organiser Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu said the initiative highlighted the inseparable link between personal wellbeing and ecological preservation.
“We believe that protecting our natural heritage requires a shift in consciousness. Through yoga, we connect deeply with ourselves and the earth. Our partnership with iSimangaliso Wetland Park reinforces our commitment to environmental sustainability, showing that when we heal ourselves, we heal our environment.”
