Salt water

The application of warm salt water can aid in reducing bacteria, pain and swelling. Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water will remove all the food particles from the socket and lower the risk of infection. Add ½ teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and stir it. Swish it around in your mouth for a minute. Do it thrice a day after meals.

Dry socket, medically referred to as alveolar osteitis, is a condition that can occur after a tooth extraction. The primary cause of dry socket is the premature dislodgement or dissolution of the blood clot that forms in the empty socket after the tooth is removed. This blood clot serves as a protective layer, promoting healing and providing a barrier against bacteria and debris. If the clot is disrupted or fails to form properly, the underlying socket becomes exposed, leaving it vulnerable to infection, inflammation, and severe pain. Certain factors, such as smoking, poor oral hygiene, traumatic extractions, and certain medications, can increase the risk of developing dry socket.
