SGPC WANTS KIRPAN AIRPORT DIKTAT REVOKED

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has demanded the immediate withdrawal of a notification that prohibits Amritdhari (initiated) Sikh employees from wearing the Kirpan, a Sikh symbol of faith, while on duty at Indian airports.
SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami criticised the recent directive from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation's Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), calling it an infringement on religious freedom protected under Article 25 of the Indian Constitution. D
