ROONEY DELIGHTED WITH SIGNING OF PROVEN GOALSCORER"
CHRIS ERRINGTON
ARGYLE SIGN GRAY

WAYNE Rooney has described new Plymouth Argyle striker Andre Gray as a proven Championship goalscorer who he believes will be a good addition to his squad.

The 33-year-old, whose former clubs include Luton Town, Brentford, Burnley, Watford and Queens Park Rangers, had been without a club since he left Saudi Pro League side Al-Riyadh in the summer. He has joined the Pilgrims on a contract until January.

Rooney explained that Gray's name 'stood out way above the other players' when Argyle assessed the free agent market of forwards after the long-term hamstring injury to the on-loan Muhamed Tijani left them with just Ryan Hardie and Michael Obafemi as their only two senior strikers.

Gray was signed in time to be available for the Championship match against Blackburn Rovers today and if he gets international clearance in time then he is set to be included among the substitutes. The experienced forward, who scored a total of 131 league goals for Luton (52), Brentford (18), Burnley (32), Watford (19) and QPR (10), has trained with his new team-mates today and yesterday.
