'PLAY THE GAME, NOT THE OCCASION' SAYS HOBBS
STUART JAMES
HOME IS WHERE THE PARK IS!

PLYMOUTH Parkway manager Lee Hobbs has called on the public to turn out in force and pack the lower tier of Plymouth Argyle’s Mayflower Stand when his side play host to Winchester City tonight.

The ‘Theatre of Greens’ will become the ‘Theatre of Yellows’ for one night only after the Pilgrims generously allowed Parkway to make use of Home Park because their Bolitho Park playing surface is still not capable of hosting football matches.

With Parkway so far behind with their Southern League Premier Division fixtures, all kinds of alternatives have been explored, but with Argyle not due to play at home until April 2, when they host Bristol City, the 13-day gap betwene their home fixtures means they were able to help out their non-league neighbours.

These are tough times financially for Parkway, who have endured 23 postponed matches so far this season. Not only have they lost out on gate receipts, but revenue from their clubhouse and food outlets as well, while hiring Yate Town’s ground for the recent clash with Merthyr Town also came at an additional unexpected and unwelcome cost.
