A warning for strong winds remained in place yesterday, with gusts expected to reach in excess of 50mph on higher ground.
As of 8am yesterday, National Grid said 144,858 properties were without power in the South West, south Wales and Midlands, and its teams have successfully restored 1,254,108 homes and businesses since the beginning of the storm.
Field operations director Roisin Quinn said: "The adverse weather has made working conditions for our engineers challenging but they are continuing to make progress tackling faults and to get people's power back on as speedily and safely as they can."
