St Mellion secure Duck Trophy with China Fleet draw

CONSIDERING that autumn seems to have arrived, the weather was kind to the Fossils this week. On Monday when the Fossils took a short trip down to the China Fleet, by the time play began although windy it was dry but cloudy and then on Thursday for the yellow tee qualifier just a short shower interrupted an otherwise dry and warm day.

Without doubt the heavy rainfall of the last week or so has softened courses and made them play long and the semi rough a challenge to play out of, but everything was verdant green.

Taking a 5–3 lead into the return leg gave the visitors a distinct advantage but they knew that China Fleet would respond and make it tough for St Mellion to get their hands on the Duck Trophy.

After four matches the scores were even at two all but then the advantage swung in favour of the home team who then took a two match lead.
