Palmer's three-dart combinations were 112, 119 and 100 to go alongside a 116 by his team-mate Antony Hayman.
Hayman added 14 more tons to his tally, whilst Palmer ended his night on 14 scores of a ton or more.
Whiting-O'Brien's stablemate, Lee Lagor, was the Honicknowle side's top scoring player with ten tons, whilst Chris Beale put up the home team's only maximum.
Lee Doncaster and Paul Goundry also fired a three treble visit, whilst Mark Yeoman added a brace of maximums to make it a quintet of 180s.
Hayman and Palmer both shone in the individual phase with Palmer (26.54) bagging legs in 15 and 17 darts in his 3-1 success over Whiting-O'Brien.
Hayman (29.47) was also a recipient of a 'game shot' call after throwing 15 and 17 darts during his emphatic 3-0 triumph.
John Mann fired champions-elect Octagon to a 9-2 win over Cherry Tree A with 15 ton-plusses his contribution.
Mann was well supported by the endeavours of Fred Goldsmith, who added 11 tons, whilst Lee Hellings was also influential in fits and starts.
Hellings added a game best 100 checkout to his three maximums, whilst the first game of the match provided the top average.
Mann teamed with Alfie Ford and Quinton Taylor (31.28) to knit together 1001 points in just 32 darts before Mann and Taylor (27.32) added a 20-dart 601 leg in their 2-0 doubles win.
Mann (26.29) finished off his stellar night with legs in 17 and 16 darts during his 3-1 individual success, whilst the defeated away side's two points came from two fine singles wins.
Nick Miller's 14-darter proved crucial in a 3-2 win, whilst Steve Mills (23.12) checked an 18-darter in his 3-0 triumph.
