Senior CPM leader Jibesh Sarkar, addressing the press today, announced the programme. According to him, party workers have been organising meetings in every ward of the corporation to encourage people to join the demonstration against the "anti-people" activities of the SMC. The protest is set to be held in front of the SMC on Friday over several issues.
On the other hand, senior SMC councillor Munshi Nurul Islam, who is also a former mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, addressed the press to outline the issues, over which the protests will be staged.
Munshi Nurul Islam alleged that the 37-member Trinamul Congress-led SMC has completely failed to serve the people, despite making several promises before the corporation polls. According to him, the present SMC has deprived the people.
