October 20, 2024
|The Sunday Guardian
In his first cabinet meeting Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah passed a resolution demanding restoration of statehood for the smooth functioning of his government.
"Draft of the cabinet resolution would be taken by Omar Abdullah to New Delhi for discussion with the central government" a senior functionary of the National Conference said.
Omar has himself said that there are serious challenges and high velocity of expectations in the public as the elections were held after a decade in Jammu and Kashmir.
Right from his oath taking ceremony, Omar is facing stiff and vocal opposition from the parties like PDP and People's Conference led by Sajad Gani Lone.
All the regional parties in Kashmir have said that the National Conference got a clear mandate as they promised to work for the restoration of Article 370 by the central government and also for the restoration of statehood.
