Plea for more donors in NHS blood crisis

A DAD who needed 27 transfusions to save his life after massive internal bleeding has urged more people to donate as the NHS battles a winter blood stocks crisis.

Donor centres are desperately trying to fill 3,300 appointments in the next week.

And this paper has launched the Give a Pint, Save a Life campaign to help boost stocks that are annually depleted

over the festive period when cold weather, seasonal illnesses and busier diaries lead to more unfilled and missed appointments.
