Dry July challenges you to go alcohol-free to raise funds to improve the care and wellbeing of people affected by cancer. But did you know you can also reap the rewards? As well as more cash in your bank account, you'll enjoy a bounty of health benefits too!
SET A GOAL
Decide why you want to participate in Dry July and set a clear primary goal. Whether it's for health reasons, to support a loved one or raise money for charity, having a clear goal in mind can help you stay motived throughout the month. Sign up for free at dryjuly.co.nz, create your fundraising page, then ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. Consider making a donation to the cause to help motivate you to complete the challenge.
MAKE A PLAN
Do social events or stress make you reach for the bottle? Consider how you will manage cravings and prepare for the month ahead by scheduling social events that don't involve alcohol or occasions where alcohol isn't the main focus. Keep yourself occupied with activities that don't involve booze - this could be anything from exercising to trying a new hobby.
