Life just keeps getting better for Jamie Lee Curtis. Right now, the Queen of Scream has a golden statue on the shelf of her home off ice, reminding her of the time – almost exactly a year ago – when she won an Oscar for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Then, at the beginning of this year, she was tickled pink when the second season of her TV dramedy The Bear scooped three Golden Globes, followed a week later by four Emmys.
It seems to be official – the Knives Out star, 65, is enjoying a big resurgence.
“Seize the day,” says Jamie with a laugh. “And I’m seizing the day – daily – because I have no time to waste!”
Not that she’s wasted much time to date. Jamie – daughter of Hollywood heavyweights Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh – was just 19 when the first Halloween movie made her a star in her own right.
And while having famous parents gave her a leg-up professionally, the way Jamie tells it, her road to domestic happiness was sprinkled with something more akin to magic than good old fashioned nepotism.
In her mid-twenties, Jamie spotted a photo of a man in Rolling Stone magazine and, without knowing exactly why, announced to the friend sitting next to her, “I’m going to marry that guy.”
The guy was This is Spinal Tap actor Christopher Guest and this year they’re set to celebrate 40 years of marriage.
