The lovely young beauty therapist was seeing me out after my appointment to get my basic grooming sorted before I left for Melbourne. Since I'd been on holiday, I’d allowed myself the luxury of becoming a little bit feral. It didn’t matter when the only people I was seeing were my family.
My eyebrows could go bushy, my legs could look like the hairy fetlocks of a Shetland pony and I didn’t feel the need to hide my grey hairs. But I was heading to Melbourne for a vacation with Jared, my old very young) partner from Dancing with the Stars, and Xander, his life partner, and given that both of them have standards, I felt it only fair I made an effort.
Anyhow, the lovely young woman opened the door for me and made a moue of disgust at the torrential rain falling outside.
“T don’t know when we’re going to get a summer,” she sighed. Three sunny days and that’s it for the year? Really makes you think about global warming.”
