I got a text from my ex-girlfriend the other day. No matter how grown up and mature and liberal you are, I bet you felt an element of drama just then. As you read it, the little people in your head looked up from their desks or put down their tools and all went “Ooooh”.
Well, I’m sorry to disappoint them but it was just a nice text expressing sympathy for the demise of a television show in which I was a participant and my subsequent lack of employment.
Obviously, she is not aware of this column, which will keep my family fed for the foreseeable future. (That should make it harder for them to cancel it!)
