It's been 30 years since police started digging up bodies in Fred and Rose West's 'House of Horrors three decades since their horrific crimes were laid bare and shocked the nation.

The first remains were discovered buried beneath a patio in the back garden of 25 Cromwell Street in Gloucester; within days, two bodies were found in the garden, followed by five in the cellar. In total, nine bodies were found at the property and more were discovered at other locations.

The Wests murdered at least 12 women and children between 1967 and 1987including their daughters Charmaine and Heather, who were just eight and 16.

Fred admitted the murders but hanged himself in prison before facing justice, whereas Rose has always protested her innocence. In 1995, she was convicted of 10 murders and sentenced to life in prison, later converted to a 'whole-life' tariff, meaning she'll die in prison.

But what drives a couple to commit the most heinous and deadliest of acts together? Woman's Own speaks to a criminal psychologist who worked with Rose West - here she shares her insight into the mind of a murderer.
