What word comes to your mind when you hear 'Chai'? How do you connect with Chai? What are the big little stories that roll out in your Chai time?
Chai or Tea, made from leaves of Camellia taliensis, is more than just a beverage. Chai. Another word for mother's embrace. Just like a mom's hand on your shoulder gives you that stubborn spirit to keep going, a cup of chai keeps you driven when going gets tough. Chai is a phenomenon that has survived the ravages of time and holds its chest proudly to announce "I am here to stay, no matter what."
Since time immemorial, chai has essayed a significant role in bringing people together. It has been a drink that connects people and eases them to open up and reveal their untold stories and secrets. And today also it is an elixir for many who are wallowing in difficult clouds of sorrow, pain and deep grief. A simple cup of chai makes people float above the pitfalls of reality. Chai has lived through different stages of one's life. It knows too much of one's life. It has seen heartbreaks, jealousy between friends, marital bliss and difficult miscarriages. Unlike being there and done it all, chai fondly attaches itself to one's life like an all-weather friend and tenaciously holds its guard.
'Been there and stayed there till the end'.
