Has my sister found Mr Right in a second-hand bookshop?

'You'll never guess what, said my little sister Debs.

We were having coffee in the little cafe in the park, which wasn't very adventurous of us because it's only about 600 yards from her flat.

I stroked my chin and pulled my glasses to the tip of my nose, in an attempt to show that I was thinking very deeply about her question, then took a stab in the dark. 'Have you been approached to appear in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!?'

'Of course not.'

'Is your wild affair with Mick Jagger going to be exposed in the Daily Star?'

'Mick Jagger? Certainly not. Rod Stewart every time. Mick Jagger, indeed! Look, you're not taking this seriously, are you? The thing is, I've found a job.'

A job? Goodness me. I'd have been less surprised if she'd told me about her wild nights with Rod Stewart, adding that Rod had Tuesdays, while one of the chaps from ABBA visited on alternate Wednesdays.

My sister did very well after divorcing an accountant, and has been living high on the hog ever since. Her last-recorded job was waitressing at the company dinner, where she met her ex-husband.

As if the job wasn't surprising enough, there was more astonishing news to follow.
