You’ve won Best Breakthrough Artist at the Rock Sound Awards! Does it feel like this year has been the one for you and the guys, the culmination of everything you’ve done up until now?

“To be honest I feel like the last two years have gone by so quick, yet it feels like I have lived a whole life. It’s just been insane. Our first international tour was with ROAM in the UK back in 2017 and even thinking back to that it was like, ‘Holy shit we’re touring with ROAM? In another country that’s not fucking Australia?’ Now, looking back on all of the relentless touring that we’ve been doing since and how lucky we are to be in this position is insane. To actually win an award and for it to be from Rock Sound of all places is amazing. You guys have backed us from the start. The whole thing feels really rewarding and wholesome. We are very grateful.”

What is it about the way that you coped with and reacted to those early tours and challenges that has helped you to reach the position that you are today?

“I think we have always made a point to try and remember everybody who has been with us since the start and kept our circle tight. It’s always been about just not being a dick to people, because so many people can see so many opportunities coming their way and take it all for granted. It feeds their ego. While for us we realise that these things don’t happen to everyone. We try and make a point to be kind and treat everyone with respect. If you’re not doing that then you’re just a shithead.”

Have you noticed a distinct difference with the reactions you’re getting and the things you’re doing compared to where you were last year?
