Kerala’s sizable off-road community came to the rescue of hundreds during the Wayanad landslide and the floods that followed in July this year. During this unprecedented natural disaster, local off-roading clubs, along with their extremely capable 4x4s, swung into action and assisted in the rescue effort of people who were affected. At a time of immense tragedy, these 4x4s were beacons of light – moving supplies into inaccessible regions and moving the affected people out. Casually driving up an impossible trail is a regular occurrence from behind the wheel of a Thar, which makes us challenge ourselves to find a crazy new mountain trail every other month. For the cover story of this issue of Engage 4x4 India, we decided to drive down south in search of the highest tea estate in the world, just so we could enjoy some stunning views with a cup of tea in hand. In addition, Tarushi attempts a tight autocross track with the Thar, Ruman finds out what living with a RWD Thar is like and we send our fresh new recruit to the adventure academy for some mandatory training.
