Another Year, Another Moment

Only January’s 2025 budget will reveal the new administration’s true intentions. So far, their caution aligns with fiscal reforms critical to recovery. But can they confront the reforms postponed for decades?
Debt restructuring offers some relief, but a debt-to-GDP ratio above 100% and strained public finances remain stark realities. State enterprise inefficiency, a weak tax base, and fiscal indiscipline persist unaddressed.
Economic recovery will be painful and slow. It demands foresight and resolve to pursue long-overdue reforms. One hopes we are prepared to tighten our belts.
To see demons more than vast hell can hold is human, perhaps. But now, we must be realistic and pragmatic and foster the political culture shift we yearn for.
