Puppy Socialisation

To a playful puppy, life is one big happy adventure filled with sights, sounds and smells that are new and exciting. Welcoming a new puppy into your family is a big responsibility. There’s lots you need to do to keep him safe and teach him about the world we live in.

A poorly socialised pup can grow up to be a nervous dog that might become frightened in unfamiliar situations. For example, a grown-up dog might act aggressively towards men who wear glasses, pull on lead to slink away from traffic lights, or refuse to climb stairs, all because they weren’t introduced to these things as puppies. From men with walking sticks to boys wearing baseball caps, police sirens to babies in prams, there are so many things that could become part of a puppy’s environment.
