Your projects: Given a free-reign by its owner, Ray Ramsey is going Stateside and very low with this Mk1 Zephyr V8 project.
Ray Ramsey at Rayvern Hydraulics is basically a project mill — there’s always something mad on the go at his Cambridgeshire premises, and it’s always interesting no matter what the marque. We’ve visited him several times before when there’s something Ford in the workshop and this time it’s no different because he has a long term Zephyr approaching the paint stage and it’s as trick as you like.
To be honest, the result will be something you’re more likely to see at SEMA with shades of influence from Troy Trapanier’s Sniper — and it shows how long-term this project actually is because it was started when that car was a fledgling on the show circuit. This has the same elements but it really does have that Ray twist, which is totally addictive — visit his workshop and I guarantee you’ll be itching to get home and work on your own car!
Admittedly, this is a very shy customer’s car — he’s a lucky chap our Ray as he often gets a free-hand in a car’s build; almost with a do-what-you-like brief. Naturally, it features Ray’s signature — air suspension — so it is literally resting on the ground, while there’s a traditional V8 in the mix along with stuff to make it all happen. The end result will be something to blow the mind — we can’t wait!
Air suspension?
