I thought I might brighten the grim, deep winter days the UK is experiencing with a photo of a road test MG TF taken some years ago in Portugal. Yes, it does look spring-like, and certainly felt like it in the light and warmth of a late January day, and was a dramatic contrast to the gloom, cold and wet of Birmingham International from just hours before. Now we were encountering orange sellers by the verdant roadside, blooming scented roses and almond blossom that was difficult to believe. The route was definitely off the beaten track, a particular strength of the MG Rover communications team who planned it, so that we could enjoy some of the best of Portugal in the then latest MG TF. Was it any surprise that reviews were equally warm?
