Crash Test Results For The ZS

MG ZS gets four stars in the Australian crash tests and three stars in Europe.

We brought you news recently of MG’s great result with a five-star crash test result in Australia with the GS; at the end of 2017, the same organisation subjected the new ZS to the same test regime. The smaller car could not quite match its bigger brother’s maximum score however, securing a still respectable four stars. The 1.5-litre MG ZS Core model achieved good results in most test areas, but in the frontal offset test, protection of the driver head and chest was only deemed ‘acceptable’ and that for lower legs was ‘marginal.’ The Side Impact Test, Pole Test and Whiplash Protection Tests all scored their respective maximum points.

In terms of pedestrian protection,the score of 26.55 out of 36 points was deemed by ANCAP as ‘Acceptable.’ Our take on this is that the ZS acquitted itself well, and can be seen as a safe vehicle to be inside, and pretty good to be struck by if you were unfortunate enough to be standing in the way when it sped towards you.
