Who doesn’t love a good project build? One of the great things about the RC hobby is the endless variety of ways to make an RC car truly your own, whether it’s with a bunch of bolt-ons or true custom-craftsmanship—or a mix of both. Since project vehicles are an RC Car Action fan favorite, we thought it would be fun to take a look at five of our recent favorites. Enjoy, and prepare to be inspired.

DAKAR RALLY TRUCK

Let’s start this off with a bang and talk about Ty Campbell’s Dakar Rally truck, as featured in the December 2018 issue. This is one of those vehicles that makes you do a double take and wonder if it’s actually a full-size truck. Ty saw Rebel Off Road’s Rebelzilla full-size rally truck on display at Axialfest, and decided that it was the direction he wanted to go for his next build. The next thing you know, Ty and his team are building a custom chassis, custom body and more to bring this awesome RC version to life.
