Continuing its latest range revisions,Scania has rolled out the remaining G-series cab variations alongside the launch of its new P-series and over-reaching XT range of construction chassis (TSN 403).
The new G-series had a limited launch in June this year, which included low, normal and high-roof sleeper versions primarily geared towards urban, interurban and multi-drop work. Now the line-up has been completed with a total of five basic configurations: G-sleeper Low, G-sleeper Normal, G-sleeper Highline, G-short and G-day cabs.
Since the cabs are now sitting slightly lower, Scania has been able to increased internal measurements to allow for some additional headroom. Normal cab height has been increased by 10cm, while Highline versions are boosted by 16cm over previous models.
Each cab variant can be specified with power trains ranging from 280-360bhp 9-litre, five-cylinder engines to 13-litre, six-cylinder lumps rated from 370500bhp. Scania reckons improvements to its latest Euro 6 engines also reduce fuel consumption by up to 3%.
The manufacturer is also offering its improved Opticruise automated transmission with lay shaft brake on G-series, which boost performance with quicker, smoother gear changes. It also reduces the time required to engage reverse and crawler gears, and PTOs.
