Prajodh Rajan, the Co-founder and CEO of EuroKids International, gives tips on building a successful business, especially in the pre-school sector.
-
To take a leaf out of how my own company has been structured over the years, everything is built around the core ideology of ‘child first’. And, that was the biggest challenge. In 2001-2002, when we studied the pre-school market, there existed an opportunity to go beyond mere content. So we were able to do everything in that value chain – put up the infrastructure, get great quality equipment, attract the best of teaching resources, etc.
These, essentially, were the gaps that existed then and our belief was that there should be no compromises as regards to what a child should get to learn at a pre-school. Initially, we had to face a lot of pressure. For example, most pre-schools would insist that a child of three years should start writing with pencils but we knew that this was wrong. Therefore, we wouldn’t do that. That’s just one example of our ‘child first’ policy.
