Maruti Suzuki
The country’s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited posted sales of 124,624 units in August 2020, up 15.3 percent over July 2020 and 17.1 percent over August 2019.
This includes domestic sales of 115,325 units and 1,379 units for other OEMs. In addition, the company exported 7,920 units in August 2020, a drop of 15.3 percent over August 2019.
Some of the best-selling models in the month were Swift (14, 869 units), Alto (14, 397 units), Wagon R (13,770 units), Dzire (13,629 units), Ertiga (9,302 units) and the Eeco (9,115 units).
As compared to the same period last year, these models have registered sales growth by 19 percent, 42 percent, 21 percent, three percent,11 percent and five percent, respectively.
Hyundai Motor
Hyundai Motor India registered cumulative sales of 52,609 units with 45,809 units domestic and 6,800 units export sale in August 2020.
Tarun Garg, Director (Sales, Marketing & Service), Hyundai Motor said, “HMIL contributed to the recovery of Indian Automobile industry by registering domestic volume of 45 809 units in August with positive growth of 19.9 percent on a comparative low base of last year. Good response to the new Creta, Verna, Tucson, Nios, Aura and recently launched India’s first iMT powertrain - Hyundai Venue has resulted in this performance. We would like to carry on with cautious optimism as uncertainty still surrounds the pandemic.”
The country’s second-largest carmaker’s both on-year and on month sales have improved by around 20 percent respectively, as compared to 38,205 units sold in August last year and 38,200 units sold in July 2020.
