Crude steel production of 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was down 7.91 percent to 144.40 million tons (mt) in September from 156.80 mt in August. Year-on-year (y-o-y), production in September also went down 7.65 percent from 156.36 mt in the same month the previous year.
In September, Asia and Oceania produced 101.9 mt of crude steel which is 14.6 percent down from the same month in 2020.
European Union (EU) produced 12.7 mt of crude steel in September, up by 15.6 percent y-o-y.
