Climate Change Needs Mind And Heart Space...

The social discourse of our time constantly changes much like fashion. There is a hot topic of the month, quarter and the headlines have limited news value in a very short period of time because our attention spans are low and we skip onto the next ‘big thing'.

But some things need mind and heart space like no other because they question us with the existential questions of not just us but the entire humanity at large. Sustainability and Climate change is a similar topic. The vagaries are for us to see – massive climate changes around us, the sweltering heat that gives us shivers when we played out in the sun in our childhoods without worrying about the heat and the urge to cozy in quickly in air-conditioned environs. Floods, which were a phenomenon we saw happening elsewhere in the world are at our doorstep and we see visuals of catastrophes around us like earthquakes quite often. What is needed is a connected engagement with the Earth around us and what changes are happening. Often, we see these are disconnected events that are happenstance or sheer bad luck to the affected community – but there is a method to the madness.
