Selena's Surgery Scare 'Was It My Fault?'

For Selena Gomez, 2017 has been all about rebirth. But accepting the extent of her health struggles hasn’t been easy. ‘After undergoing so many tests to monitor my kidneys, my doctors… said that I would be needing a kidney transplant,’ the star tells. ‘Maybe I wasn’t necessarily really good at knowing what that meant, so it actually got to a point where it was life or death.’

The shock diagnosis was her final wake-up call. ‘I’ve had to accept where I am,’ she reveals in a new interview with Billboard magazine. ‘I want to live a life that’s worth living.’

It’s now seven months since Selena received the ‘ultimate gift’ from her best friend Francia Raisa, who donated a kidney after doctors revealed the star had gone into organ failure.
