WE ALL know how the tale of life begins: One sperm out of millions wins the race and meets the egg to fertilize it, fusing the genes of the parents to create the unique human being you so eagerly wait to embrace. But the story that unravels itself through the nine months that follow is unique to every mother. For some it’s blissful glide, for many it’s a mixed ride with rough patches here and there and for a few others, the journey is complicated. That’s what I have observed in my career as a foetal medicine specialist.

It always helps if you are aware of and prepared for a probable challenge. When you are armed with prior information, you are able to make a judicious decision at the time of crisis (if it occurs!). So, as a specialist in the field, I find it necessary to shed some light on certain pregnancy complications with all would-be mommies and those who are planning pregnancy. Also, I would like you to know about some essential prenatal screenings. I shall discuss them here in brief.
