In India, certain cuisines hit the mark perfectly and become staples when eating out. Little wonder then that the restaurants serving these cuisines see thriving business. PanAsian cuisines, especially Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisines, have been a winner on Indian palates, thanks to having adapted to our tastes. New on the scene are a multitude of eateries now, though, who are going back to the roots by serving up more authentic fare, untouched by Indian flavours.

Eating out in Pune is a big thing and fascinatingly, Pan-Asian food has caught our fancy. Popular would be too small a word to be used here, with eateries mushrooming up in all parts of the city. Five stars of course have their exclusive restaurants chalked out to serve these lovers. And amongst such restaurants, standing out is Panash, the exclusive PanAsian restaurant by Four Points by Sheraton. One has been hearing rave reviews from the foodies thanks to their interesting offerings. So it was time to try Panash out.

ENTER THE DRAGON

The property itself looks compact, yet inviting. Once you go on the first floor towards Panash, you see a small, nicely lit entrance, through which you enter the restaurant. What attracts you about the restaurant is the simplistic decor and colour combination. It is very reflective of the kind of food that is served here. The walls have red and cream shades, which are further accentuated with their subtle lighting, neither too bright, nor too dim. Carved wooden panels surrounding the diners transports them to the Orient with ease. Right at the entrance, you see a section where displays from the East attract your attention.

The table arrangements are conventional; the décor is understated; the food is the star attraction here.
