We met up with the Japanese label’s designer Masayuki Ino at Dover Street Market Singapore, and got the lowdown on his latest collection, ‘Surprise!’
How did you get into fashion?
When I was in high school, vintage fashion was all the rage. I used to scour the shops to find the best pieces, and that’s how I got into it.
What made you want to start your own label?
Before establishing Doublet in 2012, I worked at MIHARAYASUHIRO. Because Mihara was the designer, he was the one who called the shots. I decided to start my own label so I would have no limits to what I wanted to do.
What does the name Doublet mean to you?
