A certain fictional British Secret Service agent, who operates under the codename 007 and is affectionately known as James Bond to the public, took the world by storm in the 1962 classic Dr. No. Portrayed by the late Sean Connery, Bond’s suave mannerisms were adept in seemingly all situations, from sweeping damsels off their feet while smoking a cigarette or dispatching antagonists, also while smoking a cigarette. Truly, it was a different time. There is, of course, the matter of his sartorial leanings as well. Anthony Sinclair and Turnbull & Asser form his wardrobe staples while the quintessential Bond car is the Aston Martin DB5. The Royal Naval Reserve Commander’s choice of watch? None other than the inimitable Rolex Submariner ref. 6538 “Big Crown”, better known as the “James Bond Submariner” in this day and age.
