COVID-19 Reinfections: What Do They Mean?

As many states begin to fully reopen after COVID-19 mandates, doctors are reporting the documented cases of COVID-19 reinfection. According to Medscape, a 25-year-old man in Nevada and a 42-year-old man in Virginia both experienced second bouts of the virus two months after testing positive the first time. A third, unconfirmed case was reported in Washington, though it hasn’t been thoroughly reviewed yet. This isn’t an unprecedented occurrence. Reinfections have been reported in other countries as well, including China, Belgium, India, Ecuador and the Netherlands.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) says that from 2006 and 2016, 2.8 million jobs were added to the health sector. That’s almost seven times faster than the rest of the economy! Jobs in healthcare settings grew more than 20 percent, outpacing jobs in other areas of the economy. Better yet, BLS expects the growth of jobs in the healthcare sector will continue to grow at a rate of 6 percent during the next decade.
